Privacy Policy
For the Fibbionary app by Lunchbox Labs. Last updated November 2, 2026.
Fibbionary is a word game. We built it to bring people together at the table, not to collect information about them. This page explains the little we do collect, why, and what happens to it.
What the app collects
- A nickname you choose. Shown to other players in a room and on the leaderboards. It doesn't have to be your real name.
- Game scores. Final scores are kept on your device and, once the shared boards are switched on, on our leaderboard service, tied to a random account number, not to your identity.
- Your voice, only while you hold the talk button. When you use the hold-to-talk feature, the short recording of the word you say is sent to our speech-recognition provider (Deepgram) to turn it into text, then discarded. Nothing is recorded when the button isn't held. You can play entirely by typing and never use the microphone.
- Words you play. Words are checked against a dictionary inside the app. When the Proper Nouns setting is on, a word that isn't in the dictionary is looked up on Wikipedia; that request contains only the word.
- Room play. In a multiplayer room, your nickname, the words you play and your score are sent to our room server so everyone in the room sees the same game. The server forgets the room about ten minutes after the last player leaves.
What the app does not do
- No account with an email or password is required.
- No contacts, photos, location or other personal data are read.
- No advertising identifiers are used in this version. If ads are added in a future version, this policy will be updated first and the app will say so.
- Kid Friendly games never show ads and never will.
Who else sees data
Only the services that make a feature work: Deepgram (speech to text, only when you use hold-to-talk), Wikipedia (Proper Nouns lookups), and our own room and leaderboard servers. We do not sell or share data for advertising.
Children
Fibbionary is intended for players 13 and older. Multiplayer with strangers is not available to accounts that tell us they are under 13. The Kid Friendly setting is a content filter for family play, not a children's service.
Your choices
- Change or clear your nickname at any time on the main menu.
- Deny the microphone permission; typing always works.
- Delete the app to remove everything stored on your device.
- To remove leaderboard entries tied to your device, email us (below) with your nickname and roughly when you played.
